ABOUT SILMAE

"Silmae is my little brain-gateway project, a name for my random creativity."

Born in Athens Greece, in a family that there were records playing frequently, Silmae came into first contact with a turntable (with pitch control!) very early. He started spending his allowance in records, then DJ gear, and inevitably he started DJing in parties and small events... right before the beginning of the CD era.

Student life brought him to the UK, where he organized a monthly event in various local venues, and ended up warming up the crowd for considerable DJs of the time. By then, music production had caught his attention, and he started experimenting with software like Rebirth and later with various DAWs.

Having a background of rock and metal influences, his productions initially where harsh sounding and with edgy lead instruments. Later, he went completely to the opposite direction and produced chill out electronica tracks, and random experimentations. Until recently, he had no plans to release his productions to the public, and only perform them during his sets.

Nowadays, production is a big part of his life, he invested loads of hours learning and trying various production and sound design techniques. He is mixing other musicians projects, providing music production advice, and producing a random gem, mainly in the House genres.

DJing has got him lately to various venues and events around Athens, like "mikro", "momix" and the "2nd Bar Theatre Festival". He is currently mixing Nu Disco, Deep House, Tech House and some Techno tracks, but he always keeps an eye open for great releases on other genres too.
